Jenison home sales continue at a brisk pace! The 54 homes that closed in May 2014 spent an average of only 31 days on the market. That’s fast, but it does seem to be a trend in this area where even last February, the coldest February most of us can remember, most homes were still selling in about two months.
Many homes in this area are reasonably priced as well with last months median home selling for $152k. One statistic which we noted with a little concern is the 34% drop in the number of homes Sold. However, we’re watching the numbers closely and the Pending Sales seem to indicate that this may just be a momentary dip. The difficulty, as in most areas this spring, is inventory. While the number of homes for sale climbed up slightly from April to May, it’s still down over all when compared to last quarter.
If you’ve been thinking about selling, this is a great time to do so when many buyers are hoping to be moved in before the new school year begins in the fall. Potential buyers will be in luck if we see a repeat of last summer there could be an increase in new listings and more homes to choose from in the near future.
